Conquering Challenges at the Melbourne City Title and AKC Series
The past two weeks have been an absolute whirlwind in my racing career. I found myself right in the midst of intense competition, taking on one of the biggest races of the year at the Melbourne City Title and gearing up for the final round of the AKC series. But what truly stands out is the significant leap I made from the junior to the senior’s class, and the daunting challenge of mastering the new KZ class with its complex 6-speed gearbox-and all of this in just a mere span of two weeks.
What makes this journey even more remarkable is the timeline I had to work with. I received my new kart a mere three weeks before the race, and my new engine arrived with just one week to spare. There was no luxury of time for extensive testing or honing my starting skills; it was all about jumping right into the action-full throttle from the get-go
The Final started perfect and we saw ourselves in with a great chance to win. We went straight to the lead on about lap 4 and stayed in the lead for the majority of the race before a small mistake and run off saw us fall back to p3 and give the front two a gap. Not what I really wanted considering we were one of the fastest all weekend, but a p3 is still a podium, and I felt I put in a lot of effort to get there!
